Eligibility — Check All That Apply

Financial Self-Sufficiency means that you are independent of Parents or Guardian. No one else claims you as a dependent when filing taxes. The below are the reasons why you may qualify for Financial Self-Sufficiency.

Self: I am under age 24 and want to claim eligibility based on my own supporting documentation for the following reason(s):

  • I am a Veteran or active duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces
    Documents needed: DD214 or copy of current orders and ID card
  • Both of my parents are deceased and I have no adoptive or legal guardian
    Death certificate(s)
  • I have legal dependents other than my spouse
    Birth certificates with you listed as parent or paperwork showing you as legal guardian
  • I am financially self-sufficient
    • Lease/Mortgage agreement in your name. Federal taxes for prior year with income of at least $14,500.
    • Copy of most recent Federal taxes filed
    • Copy of most recent State taxes filed
    • Copy of Va. Driver's license or state issued photo ID
    • Copy of Voter registration
    • Copy of Motor Vehicle registration
  • I am a ward of the court or was a ward of the court until age 18
    Copy of court papers showing you are/were a ward of the court until age 18
  • I have a Bachelor's degree and am working on a graduate degree
    Copy of transcripts showing Bachelor degree earned
  • I am married
    Copy of Marriage Certificate
